SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

Three Salem schools were briefly placed on lockdown Monday afternoon due to the search for a home prowler.

Sprague High School, Crossler Middle School and Liberty Elementary were all locked down while police tried to find the suspect.

The incident began just after 2 p.m. Monday when officers responded to reports of a suspicious person running through yards and jumping fences on the 300 block of Khartoum Street Southeast.

A stolen vehicle connected to the suspect was recovered on the 400 block of LaCresta Drive Southeast.

A K-9 team was deployed, but the suspect got away. He is described as a white man in his 20s, standing 5'9" or 5'10" and wearing a bright blue T-shirt and jeans.
