OREGON CITY, OR (KPTV) -

A woman guilty of murdering an infant she was babysitting has been sentenced to life in prison with parole possible after 25 years.

Sarah Martin, 38, was convicted of murder on May 4. She was sentenced in court Tuesday.

Martin was arrested in April 2015 after officers were called to Randall Children's Hospital at Legacy Emanuel where doctors were treating a baby with a skull fracture.

Seven-month-old Izaak Gillen died the following day.

Investigators determined Martin was babysitting Izaak at her home in Oregon City when the injury occurred.

A probable cause affidavit states Martin violently shook the boy, causing his injury and death.

Investigators said Martin knew the child's family through church and had been babysitting Izaak since December 2014.

Izaak's parents released a statement after his death that said, "Although this is a tragic event, we take some comfort knowing Izaak was able to save the lives of other children by donating three of his organs. In his seven months, Izaak touched many lives."
