A car crash in Madras killed a woman and her three sons on Tuesday, and now, a GoFundMe account has been set up to help pay for funeral costs.

Oregon State Police said Anita Bemrose, 49, of Madras, was driving a Pontiac van northbound on Highway 97 Tuesday afternoon when she stopped in the travel lane to make a left turn onto Bear Lane south of town.

A vehicle behind Bemrose nearly rear-ended the van but passed on the right shoulder of the highway.

Investigators said another vehicle, a Ford van, wasn't able to stop in time and slammed into the Pontiac at highway speeds. The impact pushed the Pontiac van into oncoming traffic, where it collided with a southbound Honda Accord.

Two of the boys riding in the Pontiac van, ages 12 and 14, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The other, age 10, was transported along with Bemrose to Saint Charles Medical Center in Bend, both with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators said Bemrose died at the hospital Tuesday. The 10-year-old boy also later died at the hospital.

Bemrose and her sons are survived by a husband along with five siblings and a foster brother.

A GoFundMe account has now been set up to help the family pay for funeral costs and living expenses.
