GLADSTONE, OR (KPTV) -

A dog recently rescued off a steep cliff on the Clackamas River has another happy ending – the canine named ‘Cliff’ was adopted from the Clackamas County Dog Services Thursday.

Gladstone residents Mikayla and Reggie Moore said they had no idea how famous their soon-to-be pooch was when they spotted him in the shelter.

“It wasn’t until I was telling my friend about it that she said, ‘Oh I think I heard about that in the news,’ and then I was telling a lady at PetSmart, and she said, ‘Oh I think I heard about that in the news,’ and I thought, ‘Oh man, I need to go take a look at the news.’”

Earlier this month the dog was saved by Clackamas County Sheriff’s deputies who responded to a 911 call that the animal was stuck about 30 feet down an embankment on a 100-foot cliff. They used a boat to get to the dog and then had to climb up the steep terrain to get to the dog. Deputies said they used a special pole and snare to safely lead the dog down.

The Moore’s said fame had nothing to do with the final decision to adopt. Instead, it was love at first sight.

“That’s how I knew I wanted to take him home,” Moore said. “He was so friendly - he was pushing up through the cage to let me pet him.”

Moore said she wants the public to know that ‘Cliff’ now has a good home, and that she and Reggie are grateful for the deputies that saved their new dog.

“He’s a happy-go lucky dog - he really is,” Moore said.

Deputies did try to find the dog’s owner shortly after the rescue, but had no luck. The dog wasn’t wearing any tags and was taken to the shelter, where he stayed about a week before his adoption.
