Neighbors file lawsuit against Precision Castparts

Posted: Updated:

A group of southeast Portland neighbors have filed a lawsuit against Precision Castparts.

Precision makes parts for planes and industrial companies.

The suit claims the company has been emitting toxins into the air surrounding the manufacturer, citing a US Forest Service study that found high arsenic and nickel concentrations near the facility.

One woman who lives nearby told Fox 12 the air often smells horrible in the area.

"Sometimes it comes over and then we'll see particles on the car and usually when that's happening I will not go outside because I have asthma," the neighbor said.

The suit calls for Precision to stop releasing Nickel, Arsenic, and other pollutants into the air, unless they install emission control systems.

Neighbors also want precision to create a plan for future air monitoring and health impact monitoring.

Fox 12 reached out to Precision Castparts for comment, and we are waiting to hear back.
