PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Homicide detectives responded to a northeast Portland home where one person was found dead and another was seriously injured Friday afternoon.

Police responded to the 6600 block of Northeast Glisan Street at 1:15 p.m. on the report of an assault.

Officers and medical crews arrived and located an injured male in his 50s outside the home. He was taken to the hospital with injuries described as serious. Police said the man is the person of interest and there is no concern for public safety.

Police said a woman in her 30s was found dead inside the home.

People who live in the area say it's rare to see a situation like this happen. "I'm surprised about what happened," Claire Teasdale said who lives down the block. "It was startling to see the caution tape'

Based on the preliminary investigation, homicide detectives were called to the scene to begin an investigation.

No other details were immediately available.

Northeast Glisan Street was closed between 62nd and 67th Avenues for the investigation. One lane heading west was reopened around 5 p.m. and fully open at 9 p.m.
