PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A woman had the cremated remains of her mother stolen during a burglary at her southeast Portland home.

Officers responded to the 6800 block of Southeast Woodstock Boulevard at 9:30 p.m. May 6.

Two women told police that someone broke into their home between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. that day.

One victim was missing a jar of cash that she earned from tips at her job as a bartender, as well as her grandmother's diamond ring.

The other victim was missing an iPad mini, as well as a small, red felt bag. The bag contained some of her mother's cremated ashes.

The woman thought whoever stole it might have believed the ashes were drugs.

Officers checked the neighborhood and spoke to neighbors who did not report seeing anything suspicious.

Police said there is no suspect information in this case.

Detectives said Friday that anyone with information about this case or the missing items is asked to contact the Portland Police Bureau at CrimeTips@portlandoregon.gov. Officers said the missing items can also be anonymously turned in at any police facility.
