PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A cab driver convicted of sexually abusing a woman he picked up in north Portland has been sentenced to more than 10 years in prison.

Hossein Tajipour, 72, was convicted by a jury on three counts of first-degree sex abuse, sodomy and coercion in January.

Police said he picked up a 20-year-old woman who left a party and got lost walking home near North Columbia Boulevard in February 2015.

The woman told investigators the driver sexually assaulted her before dropping her off near her home. An investigation lasting several months led to Tajipour being identified as the suspect.

Detectives learned Tajipour was working as a driver at Broadway Cab at the time of the crime.

A Broadway Cab spokesperson said the company fully cooperated with the investigation and used its GPS system to identify all off its vehicles that were in the vicinity of the incident.

Tajipour's contract as a driver was terminated when his identity was confirmed as the suspect, according to Broadway Cab.

Tajipour was sentenced to 10 years and four months in jail Friday and he must register as a sex offender.
