Eight people arrested in Scappoose for identity theft, drug possession

SCAPPOOSE, OR (KPTV) -

An investigation by the Scappoose Police Department of a stolen credit card led to the arrest of eight people for identity theft and drug possession.

The investigation began on May 9 when police were notified by a Scappoose resident that their credit card was stolen. 

According to police, the card was used by several suspects to make purchases at Bi-Mart, Fred Meyer, Shall Gas Station, Goodwill, Rose Valley Market, Pizza Vendor and Grocery Outlet.

Police reviewed surveillance footage from several of the locations and identified multiple suspects.

On May 13, the Scappoose Police Department, with help from the Columbia County Sheriff's Office and Oregon State Police, served a search warrant at a home in the 54000 block of Dahlgren Road.

Police recovered the stolen credit card, along with methamphetamines, heroin and other drug paraphernalia.

Eight people were arrested.

Melissa McKay, 45, was arrested for five counts each for fraudulent use of a credit card, identity theft and theft in the third degree, six counts each for conspiracy to commit identity theft and fraudulent use of a credit card. McKay was also charged with one count each for frequenting a place where controlled substances are used, unlawful possession of methamphetamines, unlawful delivery of methamphetamines, and possession of stolen property.

Martin Cerezo, 46, Rick Viles, 24, Bradley Balcuns, 27, and Christopher Richards, 34, were arrested for drug possession and frequenting a place where controlled substances are used.

Susan Broyles, 59, was arrested for aggravated identity theft, unlawful possession of meth, unlawful delivery of meth, and frequenting a place where controlled substances are used.

Marie Darmour, 30, was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon and frequenting a place where controlled substances are used.

Linda Roman, 61, was arrested for conspiracy to commit fraudulent use of a credit card and identity theft, theft by receiving and possession of stolen property.

Police said the investigation is still ongoing and more arrests are likely.
