Three people, dog killed in head-on crash in Josephine Co.

JOSEPHINE COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

Three people were killed in a crash in Josephine County Friday, according to Oregon State Police.

Crews responded to the crash on O’Brien Road at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Preliminary information revealed a 1997 Subaru Legacy was driving eastbound on O’Brien Road from Highway 199. The driver lost control and crossed the centerline, hitting a Mazda that was going eastbound head-on according to Oregon State Police.

Oregon State Police said the driver of the Subaru, Tommy Dodson, 69, of Cave Junction was pronounced dead at the scene.The driver of the Mazda, Michael Kennedy, 62, and his passenger Tammy Blind, 51, were pronounced dead at the scene as well.

A dog in the Mazda was also killed, according to Oregon State Police.

Speed and alcohol consumption are being considered a contributing factor in the crash, according to Oregon State Police.

Oregon State Police said they discovered Dodson had a suspended driver’s license.

The roadway was closed for about 3 hours as troopers conducted their investigation.
