SHERIDAN, OR (KPTV) -

A Sheridan woman has been reunited with the Purple Heart earned by her brother during World War II.

The sister of Staff Sergeant Carlton Henley was given his Purple Heart at her home Saturday.

Henley was born in 1921, and enlisted in the military out of Multnomah County in 1942.

He was killed in the line of duty in 1945 while in Japan.

Henley’s Purple Heart Medal, Dog Tag, and Bombardier Wings were found in a garage in Kent, Washington.

The nonprofit group, Purple Hearts Reunited helped reunite Staff Sergeant Henley’s medals with his family.
