Portland woman hopes to replace stolen wheelchair

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A Portland woman is homebound, after she says someone stole her wheelchair.

Carrie Blaison says she cannot get around without it, and now her friends are left asking why someone would do such a thing.

“They are stupid crazy for stealing a wheelchair from a disabled person. I don't understand how someone could do that. It's just completely 100% wrong," said Blaison’s friend Tina Ensign.

Blaison suffered a stroke last year, and has been wheelchair bound ever since.

Recently, Ensign invited Blaison to live with her, and when they went over to pick up her wheelchair, it was gone.

They think the wheelchair was stolen sometime Thursday, and Blaison says this is not the first time this has happened.

For now, Blaison is using crutches but says she cannot leave her house. Ensign said she is hoping to somehow get her best friend another set of wheels.

"She's a sweet person, a sweetheart, that woman is like a sister to me," Ensign said.
