LONGVIEW, WA (KPTV) -
Multiple elementary schools in Portland and southwest Washington received bomb threats Monday.
Kessler Elementary School in Longview was evacuated due to a threatening phone call Monday afternoon.
Parents were advised to bring photo identification and report to the front doors of the Longview Community Church after 1:20 p.m. to pick up their children.
Administrators said students were removed from the school as a precaution due to a "suspicious" and "threatening" phone call. Police described it as a bomb threat and officers were conducting an investigation at the school.
Kessler was not the only school in the area to receive a phone threat Monday.
Irvington Elementary School in northeast Portland was also evacuated due to a bomb threat called in to the school. Officers determined there was no actual safety threat and learned similar calls were made to schools in southwest Washington.
Long Beach Elementary School was placed in lockdown Monday due to an anonymous phone threat. Police determined the threat was not credible, but the school remained in a modified lockdown for the remainder of the day as a precaution.
