LONGVIEW, WA (KPTV) -

A former teacher at Mark Morris High School was sentenced to two months in jail after pleading guilty to the charge of second-degree sexual misconduct with a minor.

Lindsay Norwood, 38, was charged in the case last August. She reached a plea deal earlier this month.

Norwood was an English teacher at Mark Morris High School and had been teaching at the Longview school since 2003.

She was placed on leave in January 2015 after sexual misconduct allegations involving Norwood and an 18-year-old student were reported to administrators.

Norwood resigned from her job in June 2015.

Norwood was originally arraigned on charges of first-degree sexual misconduct with a minor, but pleaded guilty to a lesser charge on May 11.

As part of her sentencing, Norwood must register as a sex offender.
