WOODBURN, OR (KPTV) -

A man stole a car, drove to an outlet mall and was caught trying to break back into the car in the parking lot, according to police.

A security officer at Woodburn Premium Outlets approached a man who appeared to be breaking into a car Saturday.

The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Benjamin Howell, ran away through the mall. Officers were able to track him down after he barricaded himself in a women's restroom stall, according to the Woodburn Police Department.

Officers learned Howell also had a parole violation warrant for his arrest.

Investigators said Howell had stolen the car he was trying to break into and drove it to the mall.

Howell told officers he was breaking into the vehicle because he had lost the keys.

Howell was arrested on charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, shoplifting, giving false information, possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine, third-degree criminal mischief and parole violation.
