VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

A Vancouver heroin trafficking organization was shut down and five people were arrested after a nine-month investigation, according to the Clark County Sheriff's Office.

The Clark-Vancouver Drug Task Force and Southwest Washington Regional Swat Team simultaneously executed three search warrants at three homes in Vancouver at 5 a.m. Tuesday.

The warrants were served on the 10900 block of Northeast Burton Road, the 13300 block of Southeast 19th Street and the 16800 block of Southeast 1st Place.

Investigators said they seized 1 pound of heroin, 1 ounce of cocaine, $35,000 in cash, 10 cars, two ATVs and two watercraft Tuesday.

The five people arrested were identified as Sabino Barrera-Briseno, 30; Zulema Ortega-Gutierrez, 36; Carlos Garcia-Carrillo, 31; Alejandro Amezquita, 27; Mario Rodriguez Rojas, 30.

Barrera-Briseno is facing charges of conspiracy to distribute heroin and leading organized crime. Ortega-Gutierrez, Garcia-Carrillo and Amezquita all faces charges of delivery and possession of heroin, while Amezquita also faces an additional charge of conspiracy to deliver heroin. Rodriguez Rojas is being charged with conspiracy to deliver heroin and illegal re-entry into the U.S.

Seven children were in one of those homes involved in this case. Child Protective Services workers were called out and the children were placed in the care of a responsible relative after the arrest of their father, according to deputies.

"In addition to supplying large amounts of heroin throughout the Clark County area, these drug trafficking organizations operate with little to no regard when it comes to the safety and welfare of our youth to include their own," according to a sheriff's office statement.
