SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

An 18-year-old hid in the closet under a blanket and texted her mother after two strangers broke into their home.

But when the would-be burglars opened the closet door and pulled back the blanket, she yelled, "Get out of my house!"

Deputies said the burglars took off and were later arrested.

The situation began at around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday on the 4700 block of Riverdale Road South. The owner of a home called 911 after receiving text messages from her daughter about a man and woman who forced open the garage door and broke into the house.

The 18-year-old told her mother that she needed help, as the suspects rifled through items in the home.

When the suspects finally opened the closet door where the victim was hiding, deputies said she yelled at them, causing them to run to their waiting vehicle.

Deputies caught up with the suspects on the 5400 block of Skyline Road South, where they were positively identified by the 18-year-old and arrested.

Jestahn Jackson, 37, and Tiffany Wicke, 38, were booked into the Marion County Jail on charges of first-degree burglary.

"The sheriff's office would like to commend the victim in this case for taking action to protect herself and assist the sheriff's office in capturing the two suspects. Calls for service like this are some of the scariest situations a resident can face and in this case the victim did everything right to protect herself and aide in the capture of Ms. Wicke and Mr. Jackson," according to a Marion County Sheriff's Office statement.
