HAPPY VALLEY, OR (KPTV) -
An 18-year-old is facing criminal charges after deputies said he hired a prostitute and later claimed she was a burglar.
Ethan Kwon was arraigned in court Wednesday on charges of commercial sexual solicitation and initiating a false report.
The case began April 24. Surveillance images captured a woman walking into a Happy Valley home through an unlocked door that afternoon. The homeowner reported the incident as a break-in and said the woman stole $200 from an upstairs bedroom nightstand.
The homeowner's 18-year-old son was in the house at the time, but investigators said he claimed he was listening to music through headphones and didn't know anything had happened.
Deputies released surveillance images of the alleged burglary suspect the following day and asked for the public's help tracking her down.
One day after that, investigators said they determined the 18-year-old's story was a lie.
The next court hearing in Kwon's case is scheduled for July 7.
