Woman sues city of Portland, claiming officers mistakenly used spike strips

Posted: Updated:
PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A woman is suing the city of Portland, saying officers used a spike strip to stop her because they thought it was stolen, when it was not.

A lawsuit claims a Portland Police officer saw her Honda Civic near Southeast 148th and Powell in January.

When he ran the plates, the numbers were entered wrong.

The woman says officers did not use their sirens or lights, and instead used a spike strip, flattening her front tires and ordered her out of the car.

The woman is suing the city for $49,000.
