The Eugene law firm representing Ammon Bundy announced Thursday that a new lawyer has been assigned to Bundy’s case.

According to a Facebook post by Arnold Law Firm, Utah attorney Morgan Philpot has replaced Bundy’s previous law counselors Mike Arnold and Lissa Casey.

Ammon Bundy is one of the 26 people facing charges after the armed occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Burns.

Philpot is an Oregon native and is familiar with the land issues surrounding Malheur protest involving Bundy, according to Arnold Law Firm.

Morgan is a native of Molalla, Oregon and interned at the White House in 1997 as he was attending the University of Utah. Prior to law school, he was a representative in the Utah House. Presently, his practice involves civil litigation, business advisement and criminal defense. He is a member of both the Utah and Oregon bars.

Officials at Arnold Law Firm wrote that they were proud of the role they played in the peaceful conclusion of Malheur protest and they are confident that Philpot and his team will seek justice for Bundy.

In February, the Clatsop County District Attorney filed an ethics complaint against Arnold and Casey, saying they had violated an ethics rule that limits pretrial statements by attorneys.
