KEIZER, OR (KPTV) -

A woman who was driving for the first time slammed an SUV into a 7-Eleven store, according to police.

Keizer police responded to the convenience store at 4380 River Road North at 11:03 a.m. Friday.

Arriving officers found a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee that had crashed through the front doors of the business and caused a substantial amount of damage.

Investigators said 22-year-old Cindy Rosas Ortega of Keizer was driving the SUV with 27-year-old passenger Johana Gomez Ortega of Keizer.

Officers said Cindy Ortega is deaf and was operating a motor vehicle for the first time when the crash occurred. The passenger told police she was not able to tell her how to stop the SUV.

Neither woman was injured. Cindy Ortega was given a ticket for operating a motor vehicle without an operator's license. Johana Ortega was cited for providing a vehicle to an unlicensed driver.

A 7-Eleven employee and at least one customer were inside the store when the crash occurred. Police said they were clearly startled by the crash, but they did not report any injuries.

Anyone with additional information or who witnessed the crash is asked to contact Keizer Police Officer Jeremie Fletcher at 503-390-3713, Ext. 3467.
