PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A northeast Portland restaurant that grew from a food truck with a passionate following has now closed its doors.

Big-Ass Sandwiches announced that Sunday was its last day in business.

The restaurant opened near Northeast 56th and Glisan Street in June 2015.

Before that, Big-Ass Sandwiches operated for years as a downtown Portland food cart that was known for its long lines and massive meals.

The business was featured on The Travel Channel and The Cooking Channel and had some famous fans, including Jimmy Fallon.

FOX 12's Shauna Parsons spent a day working with the crew at the food truck in February 2014.

Big-Ass Sandwiches announced the closure on Twitter thanking customers and saying their restaurant space is for sale.

A spokesperson for the business told FOX 12 by email, "We weren't able to reach the goals we set for ourselves in this spot and are ready to move onto the next phase of our lives."
