VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

A Vancouver man said he was assaulted and his wife held at gunpoint in a violent home invasion robbery early Monday morning.

Vancouver police said two suspects broke into the home on the 2400 block of Northeast 93rd Avenue and tied the man before taking off with medical marijuana. The suspects, only described by police as two males, are still on the loose.

The couple, both in their 60's, did not want to be identified, but they told FOX 12 the men shattered a sliding glass door in the back of the house to make their entry. The husband said he was up watching TV and his wife was sleeping when they broke in around 1 a.m.

"If they come back, they'll leave in caskets," the man said. "I'm keeping my gun closer."

He said one of the men used zip ties to bind his feet, and also put duct tape over his mouth. He said his wife was held at gunpoint and the men demanded guns and marijuana.

The man said he was eventually able to run to his bedroom where he called 911 and grabbed his gun. He said the suspects decided to run off when they realized police were on the way.

The couple and neighbors describe the street as quiet and safe, but some say they're going to update their security or purchase guns.

Joey Mumm said he was shocked by the home invasion. He recently purchased a home in the neighborhood because he was looking for a quiet place to live.

"It's nerve-racking," he said of the robbery. "They're brazen it seems like, just being able to go in, without worry if anyone was home or not - that's even more scary, because that means they're desperate."

The victims described the assailants as dark-skinned, but said they couldn't offer better descriptions because the pair were wearing hoodies and had their faces covered by fabric.
