Man armed with gun, threatening family members killed in Tualatin officer-involved shooting

TUALATIN, OR (KPTV) -

The Tualatin Police Department officers were involved in a shooting with a a man who was threatening family members on Monday.

Officers responded to a report of shots being fired near the intersection of Southwest Cheyenne Way & Southwest Shawnee Trail around 4:15 p.m.

Tualatin Police said the suspect, Robert Wickizer, 70, was armed with a gun and threatening family members at a home in the 18000 block of SW Cheyenne Way.

Police said two female family members fled the home to a neighbor's house. The neighbor let the woman in and armed himself against Wickizer.

Wickizer broke a window and tried to force his way into the home. The neighbor fired a warning shot towards the door in an attempt to scare Wickizer away.

When officers arrived they found Wickizer outside the neighbor's house. 

Police said Wickizer continued to try to gain entrance into the neighbor's home. Officers tried to negotiate with Wickizer, who ignored the officer's commands.

Officers used lethal force against Wickizer. He was shot and killed on scene.

No family members or officers were injured.

Washington County Major Crimes Team is investigating the shooting.
