MANZANITA, OR (KPTV) -

A U.S. Coast Guard aircrew rescued a 52-year-old woman who spent more than 24 hours stranded after falling down a canyon near Manzanita.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Columbia River received a medevac request from Tillamook County emergency dispatchers at 6:20 p.m. Monday.

An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew was launched from Coast Guard Air Station Astoria in Warrenton. The woman was located, rescued and taken to the hospital.

Even though she was stranded in the elements for more than 24 hours, the Coast Guard reports her injuries are not believed to be serious.

While the aircrew was in transit, sector watchstanders coordinated the patient transfer with hospital personnel and ensured a nearby spot to safely land, according to the Coast Guard.
