A man known to be a regular customer of a Plaid Pantry store in northeast Portland pulled a gun and robbed an employee early Sunday morning, according to police.
Police responded to the convenience store on the 2700 block of Northeast Glisan Street at 12:38 a.m.
An employee told officers that a man approached the counter armed with a handgun and demanded money. After obtaining cash, the suspect left the store.
The employee told police he believed the suspect was a regular customer of the store.
Officers searched the area but did not immediately locate anyone matching the suspect's description.
Later that evening, another employee who reviewed surveillance images from the robbery called 911 to report the suspect walking on Glisan Street near the store wearing the same clothing as during the robbery.
Police located 31-year-old Ian William Mandis at Northeast 31st Avenue and Glisan Street. He was arrested on a charge of second-degree robbery and booked into the Multnomah County Jail.
Officers said they seized a replica firearm from Mandis' home during the investigation.
