PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Oregon medical marijuana dispensaries are gearing up for the first legal sales of edible products containing THC on June 2.

According to state regulations, license dispensaries can sell products containing up to 15 mg of THC to adults 21 and over.

A customer may only buy one serving per day.

The Oregon Health Authority encourages recreational users to exercise caution with children by keeping the products out of reach, or, preferably, locked away where children can't get into them.

If a child eats or drinks marijuana products, OHA recommends parents contact the Poison Center Hotline at 1-800-222-1222.

If symptoms are severe, a child may have trouble walking, sitting up, or breathing, and may be sleepy.

In those cases, health experts suggest taking the child to the emergency room immediately.

Even in adults, OHA recommends using products in moderation.

Full effects of THC edibles may not be felt for as long as four hours after they are taken.
