Pot edibles now available at Oregon marijuana dispensaries

Posted: Updated:

Oregon marijuana dispensaries will now be able to sell several types of recreational marijuana edibles to the public.

The Oregon Health Authority announced in May that dispensaries would be able to distribute marijuana edibles and extracts on June 2 to anyone over the age of 21.

The OHA said there are limits to what customers can buy. A dispensary can sell each adult only one serving of a low dose cannabis edible per day.

Officials said it can take up to four hours for an edible to take effect.

This new access to edibles has many parents and dispensary owners concerned about kids getting their hands on marijuana products.

The OHA recommends storing marijuana products in a locked area that kids cannot reach or see.

If your child accidentally eats or drinks a marijuana product, call the poison center immediately.

In February, an 8-year-old boy from Klamath Falls accidentally ate a marijuana cookie he found on a hiking trail.
