MARION COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

The Oregon Humane Society is now caring for 14 pets found in unsanitary conditions in a RV found in Marion County.

OHS staff responded to Silver Falls State Park Wednesday, where Marion County Dog Control found six dogs, six cats and two reptiles all living in the recreational vehicle. The owners of the pets relinquished them to the Humane Society.

The animals were sent to the OHS Holman Medical Center and examined by a veterinarian.

OHS officials said the pets will need “significant care” before they can be placed up for adoption.

"Oregon has some of the strongest laws in the nation when it comes to protecting animals," OHS Executive Director Sharon Harmon said in a release. "The public should be aware that when pets don't receive basic care, the law in Oregon is being broken."
