PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

There is a cabinet hanging on a tree in north Portland that may look familiar to some.

Little lending libraries like it have sprung up in neighborhoods around the country, where local residents can swap and share their book collections.

This cabinet created by a young Portland boy holds a different kind of lending library, though, because even though it is hanging on a tree it is filled with bricks.

This “Little Lego Library” has become a sort of swap meet for fans of the toys and the tiny mini-fig characters.

Inside the cabinet with four shelves is a note saying people can take a mini-fig and then leave one behind they think others may like.

There is also a place for visitors to leave behind notes.

Staff from Portland’s Bricks and Minifigs Lego store saw photos of the library on social media so they stopped by and left a few pieces behind to keep the project going forward.

Henryk Kaiser, 7, and his big brother Richard, 9, were brought by their father to see the Little Lego Library, and he encouraged the boys to share more than they took.

"I thought I could trade out characters only if I leave a character behind,” Henryk said. “And I thought I would get cool ones like C3PO."

"If you have some guy that you aren't using and it's just taking up space, then you can swap it out for something you think is totally new and cool," Richard added.

Anyone that wants to check out a mini-fig of their own can stop by the library off of North Massachusetts Avenue, near Failing Street.
