An excessive heat warning is in effect from 10 a.m. Saturday until 10 p.m. Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

The excessive heat warning is in effect in Benton, Clackamas, Clatsop, Columbia, Coos, Hood River, Lane, Lincoln, Linn, Marion, Multnomah, Polk, Tillamook, Umatilla, Washington, and Yamhill counties.

To beat the heat this weekend, make sure to schedule your strenuous activities during early morning or evening hours, know the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, wear light or loose fitting clothing, stay in rooms with air-conditioning, and drink plenty of water.

The National Weather Service wants to remind drivers to never leave pets or young children unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.

According to TriMet, expect MAX delays on Saturday due to the extreme heat. Trains must slow down in high-speed areas during the extreme temperatures to avoid damaging the overhead wire and rails.
