TIGARD, OR (KPTV) -

A man was sentenced to life in prison Friday for murdering his girlfriend’s ex-husband.

On May 4, Orlando Pouncey was convicted of murder, unlawful use of a weapon and felon in possession of a firearm after shooting Jerry Nguyen, 36, in January 2015.

Nguyen was outside of his ex-wife's home on the 10700 block of Canterbury Lane to pick up his children when he was shot.

In court Friday, Nguyen’s father broke down in tears as he faced his son’s killer.

“Ever since Jerry left this world, to me and my wife, life has no meaning,” Nguyen’s father said.

Nguyen’s ex-wife, Lauren Nguyen, was charged with felon in possession of ammunition in connection to the case.

She pleaded guilty in August 2015 to the federal charge of felon in possession of ammunition. She was sentenced to three years probation in December 2015.
