PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Nearly two months after a robbery at a Safeway store in northeast Portland, police said a suspect has been taken into custody.

Officers responded to a suspicious circumstances call in the area of Southeast 164th Avenue and Division Street on Wednesday.

Officers contacted the suspect, identified as 22-year-old Jesse Bryan Hamm, and learned he was wanted on robbery charges.

Investigators said Hamm shoplifted a basket of items from Safeway on the 200 block of Northeast 122nd Avenue the afternoon of April 12.

Police said Hamm "menaced" an employee with a pocket knife and then left the area in a vehicle.

Robbery detectives developed information during the investigation that identified Hamm as the suspect.

He was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on Wednesday on the charge of second-degree robbery.
