SKAMANIA COUNTY, WA (KPTV) -

Drivers on Washington State Route 14 were moving slowly Friday night as traffic was bumper to bumper.

Department of Transportation officials from Washington and Oregon rerouted traffic to SR-14 following the train derailment and crude oil fire near Mosier, which shut down Interstate 84 between Hood River and The Dalles.

The unexpected detour added a few other wrinkles for drivers, including adding an expected two hours of travel time. On top of that, Oregon DOT warned that drivers would need to check their fuel before taking the detour, since there were no options to refuel on the route after 6:00 p.m.

Drivers added that an event at Timberline Lodge in Hood River was adding to the already heavy traffic.

Oregon DOT reopened I-84 from Hood River to The Dalles to all traffic just after 11:00 p.m. Friday, though ramps to Mosier will remain closed.
