As triple digit temperatures are expected to hit the Portland area this weekend, residents are looking for ways to stay cool.

According to the National Weather Service Portland, Hillsboro, Vancouver, Portland, and Salem have broken today's record high temperatures.

Pacific Power shared five ways to beat the heat:

  • Make sure to stay hydrated.
  • Prevent the sun from shining into your home by closing blinds and drapes.
  • Open windows in the evening to circulate cool air.
  • Reduce heat inside by using appliances like ovens, dishwashers and toaster ovens during the early morning hours.
  • Be air conditioner smart by setting your thermostat to 78 degrees. This will keep you comfortable without breaking the bank.
