HOOD RIVER, OR (KPTV) -

On Saturday, protesters gathered to speak out against oil trains in the Columbia Gorge in response to the train derailment in Mosier.

The group of approximately 100 people marched through downtown Hood River, calling for Governor Kate Brown and Washington Governor Jay Insley to take a hard stance against the trains.

The group believes their health, air and water quality are at risk, as well as the safety of their community.

Protesters also said it is unacceptable for the Columbia River Gorge to remain as a fossil fuel export corridor, and hope state leaders do not allow further railroads to be developed.
