Portland residents battle the heat this weekend

Posted: Updated:

Portland faced record-breaking heat this weekend, with temperatures hitting triple digits Sunday.

From splash pads, to swimming pools, or just staying inside in air conditioning, people cooled off in different ways around the city.

Normally this time of year, highs are around 70 degrees, so this weekend’s temperatures were thirty degrees above average.

The heat also caused MAX delays.

TriMet said trains must slow down at high-speed areas during extreme temperatures to avoid damaging the wire and rails.

Make sure to plan ahead and leave early if you ride the MAX during these warm days.

Temperatures are not expected to cool down until the end of next week.
