PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Temperatures that reached the triple digits hampered firefighters on a busy Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to three fires, one after another, beginning with a two-alarm fire at a commercial laundry facility just off North Lombard St.

A short time later, a tanker truck overturned on an I-5 ramp, and shortly after that, firefighters responded to a four-car crash on I-5.

"With the heat like this, we can't perform at a high level as long as we normally do, so we have to take additional breaks, try to rehydrate," said Jesse Altig, a fire department spokesman.

Additional firefighters were called in to work the two-alarm fire because of the heat.

The fire department also brought in an air-conditioned TriMet bus that allowed firefighters to cool off when taking breaks.
