PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A 45-year-old man has been sentenced to 80 months in prison for a shooting that happened in March.

Portland Police Bureau said Muhammad Bilal Rahman pleaded guilty to assault in the second degree and unlawful use of a weapon last week.

The shooting happened on March 31, when officers responded to a report of a shooting at Southeast 11th Avenue and Pine Street.

When police arrived, they found Kevin Hays, 32, suffering from a gunshot wound. Hays was taken to a Portland hospital and treated for his injuries.

PPB said detectives interviewed the victim and witnesses to develop probable cause to arrest Rahman.

Rahman was indicted in late-April on numerous charges.
