Clark County inmate released after switching identities captured in Illinois

CLARK COUNTY, WA (KPTV) -

A Clark County Jail inmate who escaped by switching identities with another inmate has been captured in Illinois.

A member of the U.S. Marshals Office confirmed on Monday that Michael Diontae Johnson, 30, was arrested in Carbondale, Illinois.

Johnson was set to serve 24 years in prison for kidnapping and assault convictions in Arizona, was brought to the Clark County Jail to stand trial for local charges of harassment, assault, intimidating a witness, and bail jumping.

On May 12, Johnson was released after switching ID bracelets with another inmate who was scheduled to be released.
