FOREST GROVE, OR (KPTV) -

A 29-year-old man was seriously injured after he was struck by a vehicle in Forest Grove on Monday.

Forest Grove Police said the accident happened around 6:17 p.m. on 19th Avenue at Birch Street.

Police said Michael Caldwell was crossing 19th Avenue where an eastbound vehicle had already stopped. Donald Hunker, 79, was also driving in the other eastbound lane and failed to see Caldwell.

Caldwell was taken by Life Flight to an area hospital.

Hunker remained on scene and is cooperating with police.

Police said alcohol is not a factor in the crash.

No citations have been issued.
