Police: Man shoots woman in head with nail gun, shoots himself in Lane County

LANE COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

Oregon State Police arrested a man on June 1 after he allegedly shot a woman in the back of the head with a nail gun, then shot himself.

Around 8 p.m. OSP responded to a report of a of a man and a woman injured along Highway 58, east of Lowell.

Emergency crews arrived at Goodman Creek Road to find 31-year old Eve Pagliaro and 46-year-old Troy Thompson, both with multiple nails sticking out of their heads.

Investigators said it appears Thompson shot Pagliaro several times in the back of the head with an air compressed nail gun they had rented the day before in Eugene.

Thompson then shot himself at least once in the back of the head with the nail gun.

Others later found the pair and called 911, according to OSP.

Both Thompson and Pagliaro where taken the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

OSP said they arrested Thompson after he was released from the hospital. Pagliaro is still in critical condition. 

Thompson is charged with First Degree Assault.
