A dog named Earl who survived after he was almost beaten to death in April now has a new owner.

Earl will be adopted by one of the officers who was first on the scene and helped get him to an emergency clinic to get help. The officer also helped collect donations for Earl's medical needs.

Earl does have a traumatic brain injury, but his new family will help him live a life well loved.

Zachary Ralston beat the dog in a mall parking lot in Eugene while under the influence of drugs and was sentenced to a month in jail.

Ralston said he was watching the dog for a friend, but when no one came forward to claim the dog, he was put up for adoption.
