COLTON, OR (KPTV) -

A Colton volunteer firefighter was killed in a logging accident Tuesday, the Estacada Fire District said on behalf of the Colton Fire District.

David “Fuji” Fraijo, 54, was an active member of the Colton Fire District #70 for the past four years.

Fraijo felt compelled to become a firefighter after he witnessed his son, Justin, a Colton volunteer firefighter; drown in a boating accident four years ago.

He was in the fire service alongside his wife, surviving son, brother-in-law, and niece.

Fraijo was passionate about logging, where he could be in the woods with nature.

“His smile, contagious. His laugh, one of a kind. His ‘get the job done’ attitude, inspiring,” Richard Anderson, Division Chief said in a release on behalf of the Colton Fire District.

A private graveside service is planned for Sunday, June 12 followed by a public memorial service at Colton High School at 3 p.m.
