STEVENSON, WA (KPTV) -

Investigators believe a wildfire was sparked by someone setting logging equipment on fire in Skamania County.

Logging crews reported a wildfire east of Stevenson on Thursday morning.

The fire was two acres in size and burning in slash piles and log decks. Three pieces of logging equipment were destroyed in the fire.

Investigators said it appears the log processor and two loaders were intentionally set on fire.

The timberland is owned by Broughton Lumber Co. in Bingen, Washington. Arnold Logging was contracted to harvest timber at the site of the fire.

Fire crews from multiple agencies worked throughout the day Thursday to control the fire. A helicopter was also called to the scene to assist with containment.

The fire was contained by late Thursday afternoon.

Washington State Department of Natural Resources crews remained at the scene Friday.

The cost associated with the fire may exceed $1 million, according to the Skamania County Sheriff's Office, which includes the damage to the logging equipment.
