PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Students held a pro-trump rally at Portland State University Friday to show their support for the presumptive Republican nominee.

About 20 students gathered on campus outside of the student union, wearing red hats saying "Make America Great Again."

The students even put up a small, wooden wall to symbolize the wall Trump wants to build along the Mexican border.

A few people who oppose Trump showed up to challenge their views, prompting a heated debate, though nothing got out of control.

A couple of police officers and park rangers stood by in case the rally created any safety issues.

The Trump supporters said they know they're fighting an uphill battle at a mostly liberal school like PSU, but they still want to be heard.

“I mean, probably here in Portland we'll remain a minority. If it goes red like it did when Reagan was running, that would be something to behold. But I don't think that will happen unfortunately," PSU student Sam Hyde said. "I mean, Donald Trump's message is out there pretty loud and clear to the rest of the nation, so we're just kind of doing this for fun."

Students on the other side of the debate told FOX 12 they did not take the group very seriously.

"I don't think people take a lot of stock in these types of rallies, especially with such small groups,” a PSU student name Jasmine to FOX 12. “They’re like ‘There's such a small amount of people, why should I bother.’ There's more onlookers, just people waiting to see how it goes down”
