HILLSBORO, OR (KPTV) -

An unoccupied motor home was destroyed by a fire Friday night, according to Hillsboro Fire and Rescue.

Crews responded at 10:20 p.m. to a report of a commercial fire at 955 Southwest Oak Street.

The owner of the motor home, Jess Watts, 47, told investigators that he had spent the evening getting the vehicle ready to move from a commercial storage yard to another location. As he was driving away for the night, he looked in his rear-view mirror and saw smoke coming from the motor home.

Watts asked a bystander to call 911 because he did not have a phone with him.

When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from the motor home.

Crews attacked the flames, and brought the fire under control in about 15 minutes, according to Hillsboro Fire and Rescue.

According to Hillsboro Fire and Rescue, crews were unable to determine the cause of the fire.

No injuries were reported.
