LINN COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

Three men who plotted to steal from a marijuana growing operation in Linn County were caught with large garbage bags, two-way radios and cutting tools.

Deputies responded to Bell Plain Drive near the town of Shedd at 2:39 a.m. Monday.

A homeowner heard his dogs barking and believed someone was on his property. The man drove down his driveway and located a pair of bolt cutters and a baseball bat in the driveway.

The homeowner also spotted two vehicles parked in a field east of his property.

As deputies were on the way, the caller reported one of the vehicles, a red Honda Civic, drove off heading east on Bell Plain Drive toward Highway 99E.

Deputies attempted to stop the car, but the driver accelerated to speeds greater than 100 mph, according to investigators.

A chase continued through Tangent before the driver stopped on North Lake Creek Drive. Three people in the car were taken into custody.

The driver was identified as 19-year-old Thomas Eugene Peterson. The passengers were identified as Mohamed Waeil Eltelbany, 19, and Todd Alan Folkerts, 21. The three suspects are from Monmouth.

Investigators said the suspects drove in two separate vehicles to steal marijuana from the home near Shedd.

Peterson was arrested on charges of conspiracy to commit burglary, attempt to elude, trespass, reckless driving and recklessly endangering. Eltelbany and Folkerts were arrested on charges of conspiracy to commit burglary and trespass.
