PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Police evacuated some homes in a southeast Portland neighborhood Tuesday morning because of a suspect who was barricaded inside a shed and threatening to shoot police.

The Portland Police Bureau's Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) responded to a home in the 13900 block of Southeast Rhone Street Tuesday around 8:42 a.m.

The resident who reported the incident said he had heard someone yelling in the shed in his yard and did not know who the person was.

Police said some residents on Rhone Street were told to evacuate their homes.

Officers also closed Rhone Street to traffic between 136th and 141st avenues as well as 136th Avenue from Powell Boulevard to Bush Street.

The suspect surrendered to officers around 10:45 a.m. without incident. He was taken to an area hospital for a mental evaluation.

Officers said no firearms were found in the shed and that the suspect is not expected to face any charges.
