Youngest ever LPGA champion talks to kids in Portland 1 day after winning title

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

She's the youngest to win the LPGA Championship in the history of the game, and Monday morning 18-year-old Brooke Henderson was in Portland talking to kids about teeing up their golfing careers at the Colwood Golf Center.

Just last year Henderson was ranked within the Top 200 Women in golf, but that all changed this weekend in Seattle.

She beat number 1 world-ranked Lydia Ko in a one-hole play-off to take the crown.

Henderson said she hopes to provide inspiration for young girls everywhere.

“I would love to be able to inspire young children, especially young girls,” she said. “You know there's not a ton of young girls playing golf right now so if we can change that, it's such an incredible game, it's taught me so much in life and in the game of golf.”

Henderson said she has been playing with her since she was 3-years-old.

Her sister, by the way, is now her caddy.
